Una tarde Grampo Caralampio came back pa’la casa todo cansão. He had been shoveling snow y tanto barrer la nieve had left him very tired y con muncha hambre. Grama Cuca happened to be gone ese día porque estaba poniendo decoraciones para la Navidad over at the church. When he saw grampo taking the bologna, pickles and mayonnaise, he warned him: “Grampo, I wouldn’t take esas cosas de la hielera; Grama Cuca is saving them para Las Posadas.”

“Gee, grampo,” Canutito exclaimed. “¡Qué sandwich tan grandotote! ¿Qué clase de sandwich es ése? I have never seen uno tan grande en toda mi vida!”

“…ste es un Dagwood sandwich, m’hijo,” Grampo Caralampio replied.

“¿Quién era el Señor Dagwood, grampo?” Canutito asked.

“El Señor Dagwood Bumstead era un character inventado por Chic Young en 1936. Él formaba parte de un comic strip llamado ‘Blondie’.

En esa tira cómica, él siempre comía sandwiches altos hechos de una variedad de carnes diferentes con queso.”

Grampo abrió la boca muy grande trying to bite su Dagwood sandwich. He would move his mouth primero para un lão and then to the other side. Tratando de acomodar todo el sándwich into his mouth required a great deal de enfuerzo. Canutito only watched him, wondering si él pudiera do the same thing.
