wn and the Cen e or Con p ry inema is sho i g th n w y rest version of filmmaker Jonathan Demme’s Stop Making Sense beginning Friday, September 29, to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.
The re-release of the 1984 film, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, provides an intimate look into the artistic evolution and cultural impact of David Byrne and the Talking Heads. The film stars core band members Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison along with Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry, and Edna Holt. The live performance was shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983 and features the group performing its greatest hits, including “Burning Down The House,” “Once In A Lifetime,” “Psycho Killer,” and others.
In honor of the anniversary screening, Violet Crown partnered with Nuckolls Brewing Co. to brew a saison inspired by the film. Nuckolls’ Making Flippy Floppy gets its name from the song on Talking Heads’ Speaking in Tongues album and is fruited with pineapple and kiwi puree.
Making Flippy Floppy is on tap starting Friday, September 29, exclusively at Violet Crown for the duration of the film’s one-week run. Tickets are available at violetcrown.com and ccasantafe.org.
