CHAMBER ACHIEVEMENTS

The Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce’s mission is

“to grow the local economy and serve as the voice of business.”

Since 1882, the chamber has been a vital and positive influence in the growth and prosperity of the Santa Fe community.

The chamber’s board of directors identifies key priorities that support this mission and create collaborations with other organizations. Chief among this work is job creation, increasing the supply of income-appropriate housing, workforce development, and business advocacy. The chamber acts as a catalyst, convener, and champion for our community. We do so in the following ways.

LOBBYING AS THE VOICE OF BUSINESS

Supporting the mission of Los Alamos National Laboratory and the resulting regional economic development

Serving as a founding member of the Santa Fe Housing Action Coalition, “a broad-based community coalition dedicated to expanding the accessibility and affordability of quality housing options in Santa Fe through systemic change that benefits all residents.”

Supporting air lift flights and airport improvements and expansion at Santa Fe Airport through the “Fly Santa Fe” campaign Seeking consistent marketing funding for local and state tourism Hosting conversations with municipal candidates, merchants’ meetings, legislative previews, and other events to inform the electorate about candidates and legislative issues

Hosting monthly networking events that draw dozens of businesses and community leaders

Lobbying to reduce unnecessary rules and regulations and to support commonsense business licensing

Forming a task force to bring together employers to collaborate on new ideas and innovative solutions for the growing problem of child care in our community

GROWING THE LOCAL ECONOMY

Working with local merchant groups to address issues and to advocate for an improved business climate

Hosting foreign trade and other industry groups that have an interest in connecting with and investing in Santa Fe Connecting businesses with government agencies, resources, partners, and potential collaborators

Celebrating new local businesses through ribbon cuttings and other ceremonies

Diversifying the local economy more than ever before through health care, technology, and government, as well as supporting creative sectors that have gained momentum

Working to improve broadband access, reduce regulations, create regional collaborations, and strengthen relations with local and state government

Creating Santa Fe Marketplace, an e-commerce site, alongside Tourism Santa Fe, to provide an online platform for businesses to sell products

Hosting the Business Expo and Career Resource Fair, which brings in hundreds of participants and exhibitors, and features panels with top industry leaders in conversations about entering the workforce in different business sectors

Creating and hosting the first-ever Feria Southside, which provides resources to Southside and Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs and small businesses. This event highlights all the city’s Southside has to offer by bringing together 65 businesses and more than 500 attendees.

PROMOTING A PROSPEROUS COMMUNITY

Hosting the annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon, featuring a panel of successful women leaders from Northern New Mexico, with more than 300 attendees

Collaborating with administrators and elected officials regarding programs to improve outcomes in Santa Fe Public Schools

Partnering effectively with business, community, and nonprofit groups that work together to create a more diverse, prosperous, and healthy city economy

Hosting assorted chamber events that draw more than 4,000 attendees each year

With hundreds of members, the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce remains the voice of the business community and, collectively, presents a formidable entity that is committed to improving the business ecosystem, opportunities, and quality of life we all cherish as Santa Feans.
