Bob Shacochis
Bob Shacochis is a novelist, essayist, journalist and educator. His work has received the National Book Award for First Fiction, the Rome Prize in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. He is the author of two short story collections and two novels,
Swimming in the Volcano,
finalist for the National Book Award, and The WomanWho Lost Her Soul,
winner of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Fiction and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. His The Immaculate Invasion, about the 1994military intervention in Haiti, was a finalist for the NewYorker
Literary Award for Best Nonfiction Book of the Year and was named a Notable Book of 1999 by
TheNew York Times.
Shacochis currently teaches in the graduate writing program at Florida State University. He lives in Florida and NewMexico.
