Spotlight on Native cinema

Zahn Mcclarnon has one of those faces people are pretty sure they’ve seen before, even if they’re not sure where. The actor’s 90-plus film and TV production credits include the second seasons of Fargo and Westworld and the lead role in the AMC series Dark Winds. He plays famously pragmatic detective Joe Leaphorn in Dark Winds, which is based on characters and stories created by novelist Tony Hillerman. The Denver native will be part of Native Change Makers in Film, a panel discussion at La Fonda on the Plaza. Also taking part is Chris Eyre, who directed Memories of Miss O’keeffe, about generations of the Lopez family who worked for the famed artist in Northern New Mexico; the 1998 feature Smoke Signals; and four episodes of Dark Winds. The moderator is Santa Fe acting coach Maura Dhu Studi. 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, La Fonda on the Plaza, 100 E. San Francisco St., $125, 505-820-0552, silverbulletproductions.com — B.S.
