BABS IS BACK!

Release Me 2 (Aug. 6), the new collection of previously unreleased studio performances by the legendary Barbra Streisand, 79, includes duets with Kermit the Frog (“Rainbow Connection”), Willie Nelson (“I’d Want It to Be You”) and Barry Gibb (“If Only You Were Mine”). Here are some fun facts about the Brooklynborn singer.

She attended Erasmus Hall High School in New York City with Neil Diamond, where they both sang in the choir.

Mary Martin, Anne Bancroft and Carol Burnett were all considered for the Broadway role of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl before Streisand was cast.

Her current husband, James Brolin, and her ex-husband, Elliott Gould, both starred in the 1978 sci-fi thriller movie Capricorn One.

The first woman to receive an Oscar for composing music, she won the Best Original Song award for “Evergreen” from A Star Is Born.

She and Shirley MacLaine celebrate their joint birthday (April 24) together every year.
