Phoebe Lasoi and other artisans live in Kitengela, just south of Nairobi National Park in Kenya. Maasai men and women have always worn beaded jewelry for both special occasions and everyday use. Beading is an enduring artistic and cultural passion and is now employed in the making of sandals and handbags, as well as jewelry.
