Maki Aizawa, Tsuyo Onodera Mixed Media

Tsuyo Onodera, a master kimono maker, has been in the kimono industry for 50 years. She and her daughter Maki Aizawa make haori and hanten — kimono-influenced jackets and coats — from denim, linen, paper, and cotton. Onodera’s mastery of kimono sewing skills and Aizawa’s creativity combine to preserve the traditions of kimono making and the appreciation of traditional textiles.
