Just off the Santa Fe Plaza, sandwiched between an ice cream shop and a gift store, is a doorway leading to a quiet staircase. Tucked upstairs is Art Box, wellknown local painter Stan Berning’s exhibition space. Berning also works with oil and egg tempera, but his most recent paintings are abstract watercolors expressing the changing light of the New Mexico landscape. Art Box is open by appointment, its neighbors include Café Pasqual’s Gallery and No Land, a space for emerging artists.
